Praying before a meal
Asking the lord to come eat with us
March 2nd 2026
Where does the tradition of saying grace before meals come from? You might say, ‘It is an expression of gratitude to the Creator, for allowing us to eat our fill.’ While that is true, this custom also stems from knowledge that the Initiates possess about the reality of the invisible world. They know that there are countless creatures on the astral plane who are hungry and thirsty too, and who try to slip into human beings to feed through them.
Nutrition is a function that still remains closely tied to our animal instincts. If we are not vigilant while we eat, we take in entities from the astral world that are in affinity with these instinctive tendencies. By saying a prayer to the Lord before a meal, you are asking Him to eat with you, and once you have opened the door to God, you close it to all the undesirable entities from the astral plane.
