God

Who is inaccessible is also within us

November 28th 2013
‘Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect’. How much knowledge we need to acquire, how much discipline we need to accept and how much effort we need to make each day, merely to move closer to this ideal of divine perfection presented to us by Jesus! And to be always moving, progressing, climbing – that is what is so wonderful! The whole meaning of our life can be read in this aspiration to divine perfection, and not just the meaning of our present life, but also of all our future lives, for all eternity. When we place God at the centre of our life, he takes part in our activities. He is present, whether we know it or not, in everything we achieve, in our thoughts and our feelings, and from him we receive strength, joy and peace. God is at one and the same time furthest from us and closest to us. The secret of our unfolding lies in this seeming contradiction: as soon as we begin to seek God, who is inaccessible, unimaginable, inconceivable, he is very close; he is within us.
