Disinterestedness and discernment

The link between them

To succeed in life you must of course possess certain physical, intellectual and psychological abilities, and above all you must work. But this is still not enough. In order to know what direction to go in, what choices to make, who to associate with, etc, you also have to have discernment. And how do you acquire discernment? By being disinterested. Yes, discernment gives people the capacity to see clearly. Seeking personal advantage and being selfish, greedy and moneygrubbing, on the other hand, clouds their vision and causes them to lose their lucidity. They are so obsessed just with satisfying their own interests that they see people and situations around them as if through distorting lenses. And since they do not see clearly, they think that what they are doing is in their own interest, when in fact it is to their detriment. Contrary to what people tend to think, it is not selfishness but selflessness that allows them to succeed and become rich.
