Praying before meals

A way of taming the food

July 27th 2014
By beginning meals with a prayer, we give thanks to the Lord, who has provided the food for us. But that is not all; our prayers also help to influence the food positively so that our body can assimilate it more easily. Before the food arrives on our table, it has passed through all sorts of places. It has been handled, packaged and transported… So in a way it is foreign to us, and it is advisable to take a few precautions before we let it enter our body. What are these precautions? Take a piece of fruit, for example, hold it respectfully, look at it, speak nicely to it in your mind, and thank it for the life it is about to bring you. Something in it will change; it will be much better disposed toward you, and when you put it in your mouth it will begin to work for you. The secret for getting the food to open up to you is to tame it, to warm it – and warmth is love. This is why I advise you not to eat food you do not like, for it behaves like an enemy in your body. And if, for one reason or another, you have to eat it, do your best to like it at least a little.
