Can only be removed by those who discover the reality of the spirit behind appearances

The veil of Isis mentioned in the initiatic tradition represents the mysteries of living nature, which only initiates can penetrate. And as human beings are part of nature, they too are veiled. This is why they find it so hard to get to know themselves. In order to gain true self-knowledge, they must stop seeing themselves through the distorting glass of their opaque bodies and rise to the sublime regions of the spirit.
Buried beneath layers of matter in the human spirit, there dwells a spark, an entity of indescribable beauty, all-knowing and all-powerful. And anyone who is able, through asceticism, prayer and sacrifice, to obey the demands of spirit will see Isis – nature – appear before them stripped of her veils.
