Singing

Rediscovering its mystical function

August 31st 2016
Spoken words can create worlds, and these worlds are able to remain in existence a very long time. It is impossible to know how long the effect of a word will last. So, what about all the music we hear these days, hysterical music accompanied by vulgar or violent lyrics? It is dangerous for a society to underestimate its destructive power. In an initiatic school, music, especially singing, has an important role to play. When we sing, we ourselves are the instrument producing the sounds, so singing has very powerful effects on us – on our physical body and our subtle bodies. When we sing, we are sending out waves, currents of force, which create forms in us. This is why it is essential that we rediscover the mystical function of singing by focusing all our attention not only on the melody but also on the words.
