Elohim, the
Take part in building a child’s body
July 28th 2011
‘In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth’. In this first verse from Genesis, the word elohim is translated as ‘God’. Yet, elohim is a plural, which should therefore be translated as ‘gods’. The elohim are the angels of the sephirah Netzach; they themselves created the world, and this cosmic event is re-enacted on earth each time a man and woman conceive. When they create a child, a man and woman are under the influence of Netzach, love, and the elohim play a part in forming the child’s body. The man and woman may not be aware of it, but the elohim do their work.
The sephiroth are sublime regions, but they work every day in all spheres of life. Yes, just look at how a child is created: the elohim are there – the father and mother called them – and some months later a little being appears, filling everyone with wonder. Without knowing it, humans work with cosmic forces, magic forces. Are there any more powerful magic forces than those of procreation? With magic, you can unleash tornadoes, but that is nothing compared to the creation of a living being.
