Discouragement

A high ideal must always shelter us from it

October 8th 2016
Those who are truly directed by a high ideal never become discouraged. The mere presence of this high ideal within them, guiding and feeding them, gives them strength and hope. They know, they feel that they are walking on the right path, that nothing will ever hinder their progress. Even if they inevitably happen to stumble on this path, they never let doubt affect them. Deciding to walk on the right path does not in itself mean you will be able to stay on it without tripping; but falling is never a reason to stop walking. At the slightest mistake, at the slightest stumble, many lament and say, ‘Oh! I will never succeed, I am stupid, incapable, weak and despicable. I give up.’ These are the reactions of misplaced dignity, wounded pride. So, even if you make mistakes, even if you fall, do not stop; get up again and continue walking, despite your weaknesses, your falls, your failures and your mistakes.
