Cardinal feasts

Their time of year

December 21st 2016
Easter, St John’s, Michaelmas and Christmas... The way these four festivals are spread throughout the year should make us reflect on the importance of the events taking place in the universe at those particular times. Corresponding to each of these festivals is a cardinal point, a season, an archangel and a planet. The festival of Easter coincides with the coming of spring, presided over by Archangel Raphael, who represents the planet Mercury and rules the south. St John’s with its fires marks the beginning of summer; it is the season of Archangel Uriel, who represents the earth and rules over the north. Michaelmas marks the beginning of autumn; it comes under the influence of Archangel Michael, who represents the Sun and rules over the east. Lastly, Christmas marks the beginning of winter; it is under the influence of Archangel Gabriel, who represents the Moon and rules over the west. Particular forces and entities set to work at each of these four times of the year. And we too, at least through our awareness, can participate in this work.
