Holy pictures
Are only the point of departure for prayer

Suppose you have an icon or a holy picture at home: morning and evening you light a candle in front of it, you pray and ask it to protect you. But it is not the icon itself that will protect you. What will protect you is the inner state induced within you by your prayer, the effects of which remain imprinted in you and guide you in the way of light, love, and peace.
You are therefore the only one who can really do something for yourself, through the connection you make with heaven. Statues or holy pictures are only a starting point, a support.
