God

Is patient with our faults but impatient with our suffering

September 7th 2011
It is said in the Zohar that when God had created the world he addressed all his creatures in turn. When the Law stood before him, he spoke to it thus: ‘Whenever humans transgress your orders, you will be implacable, but as soon as they repent and do penance you will cease tormenting them, say no more and let them go free.’ This is why the Law is terrible, implacable, but relents when humans repent and mend their ways. You all have the power to prevent the most severe decrees of the Law from being enforced. God’s order is that the Law should withdraw once you have seen your error and begin to put it right. Yes, for God is patient when faced with our sins and weaknesses but impatient when it comes to our suffering and torments.
