Wisdom
Came first, but only appeared recently in human beings

Unlike our instincts, which have developed over thousands of years in humans, the powers of reason and wisdom, having manifested more recently in them, are not yet solidly embedded. In fact, wisdom came before all other manifestations, but since it belongs to regions far removed from humans’ instincts, it has a long way to go before it is known or has its word to say, and what is more, it is not always accepted.
Wisdom came before the creation of the earth. As it is written in the book of Proverbs: wisdom spoke and said, ‘The Lord created me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of long ago. Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth,... when he marked out the foundations of the earth, then I was beside him, like a master worker; and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always ...’ So wisdom came first, it is God’s first-born, but its descent into human beings is more recent, and that is why it will still take time to take root deeply within them.
