Sacrifice –disinterested love for all human beings

Religions that have not encouraged a sense of martyrdom among their followers are rare. Followers should now be encouraged to cease acts such as manhandling and mutilating their body and endangering their life in sacrifice to the Divine.
True sacrifice is found in disinterested love for all human beings. Those who have understood the meaning and power of love need not inflict suffering upon themselves: there is already enough to be shared with their unfortunate brothers and sisters. And the obstacles they will encounter in their efforts to help others present them with yet more opportunities to suffer. But they must not retreat when faced with this suffering: for it will make them grow and ennoble them.
