Mystery of the holy trinity, the

Is revealed to us by the sun

Christianity teaches the mystery of one God as three persons, which it calls the mystery of the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. But for those who know how to apply the law of analogy, it is no mystery. One of these analogies is given to us by the sun. The sun is a tremendous life-giving power that manifests itself through light and heat. When we delve more deeply into these manifestations, we discover the relationships that exist between the sun’s life, light and heat, and the three persons of the Trinity. At every level of creation, from the physical plane to the divine plane, we find these three principles. On the spiritual plane, life, that is to say the almighty power of creation, manifests itself as wisdom or light, and as love or heat. These are the three principles found in the Holy Trinity – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit – which are inseparable just as the sun’s life, light and heat are inseparable. The mystery of a God as three persons is therefore not that difficult to solve. What only remains mysterious is the immensity and the splendour of this primordial Essence from which all life arises.
