Today

Living it as if it were our last day

July 18th 2019
In order to understand the importance of the present day, we must act as if it were our last. Some may say it's awful to keep thinking of death in that way. Well, it isn't. Thinking of each day as if it were your last does not drive you towards death, but towards life. No, the ones walking towards death are those who behave in a superficial, careless way while continuing to hope for a better future. Yes, they are squandering their life. When the wise tell us we must live each day as if it was our last, they say it so we will do our best to make today more useful, more beautiful and more precious. It is not that you really believe it is your last day; you are merely using the idea as a teaching method for living today more fully. You have a minute here, an hour there, a day perhaps. This minute, hour or day is yours to create your future. Before the future, your true future as the son or daughter of God, can appear in all its splendour, it waits for you to learn all your lessons from the past. But it is alive and moving, and it is already here since you are creating it.
