A gateway to god

Just as children want to be at least the equal of their father or mother, so disciples take their Master as their role model. But the ideal they should be aiming for is not their father, their mother or their Master but God himself, who created them in his own image. The Master is a gateway, a staging point, a teacher for a while. Nowhere is it written that disciples must go no further than him. Through their Master, they must go to God. And if their Master has reached God, they will be with him close to God.
‘The one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these’, said Jesus in the gospels. Jesus wanted his followers to do great things, even greater than he had done. Is that possible? Yes, and if Jesus spoke in such an impersonal and selfless way, it is because he was not working for his own glory but was doing God’s work, to bring about his kingdom on earth.
