Proud people
Look downward while humble people look upward

From the summit where they are perched, proud people always look downward, and obviously, all they can see are those who are ignorant, weak and wicked. They view them with contempt and go about swollen with a feeling of superiority. But since they are always self-satisfied, they don't progress.
While those who look upward notice others who are wiser, more evolved and filled with light, and so in comparison, they begin to notice their own faults. They feel very small compared to others – they become humble and this humility makes them grow. By focussing their attention on other people and admiring them, they don't remain idle: they work and make an effort – they wish to become like the others! This is how they progress.
