Men and women

The danger of uniformity

November 21st 2011
In any domain, balance derives from the existence of two opposite, complementary principles, the masculine and the feminine. It is a reality we cannot deny. This is why the tendency for today’s men and women to behave and dress alike and also to pursue the same occupations is somewhat disquieting. When all polarity has disappeared, it signals the death of a generation. There can be no spark or life if the two poles, the two electrodes, are not clearly distinct. It is quite normal for women to want the same freedoms as men and to show as much initiative, but they can achieve this without imitating men, without wanting to take their place and certainly without getting rid of them. Freedom, boldness and the spirit of initiative are qualities women can develop, yes, but while deepening in themselves what constitutes the essence of the feminine principle.
