It changes under the impulse of a feeling

You see a man standing there quietly; he is still, with a relaxed expression on his face. Suddenly, he receives a jolt from deep down inside – a thought or a feeling of fear, love or anger – and then everything changes, his features, the look in his eye, the tone of his skin.
How can the physical body change so suddenly under the impulse of something as intangible and subtle as a thought or a feeling? Just one emotion and we become petrified! Sometimes people even die because of an emotion. How can an emotion have such power over the physical body? Everyone has noticed these phenomena, so why haven’t they ever drawn the conclusion that the psychic life controls the physical life? The physical body is not responsible for anything; it is always dependent on some element above it that creates, shapes, colours and moulds.
