Love without waiting to be loved

Life is such that you can never be sure of anything, either of events or of other people. They will sometimes think of you, but more often than not, they will forget you. So, if you do not establish something stable within yourself, you will be constantly tossed about and disoriented.
Yes, it is time to begin to recognize the nature of things and understand what you have to do in order to be happy. And since you need love to be happy, since you feel that it is love that makes you blossom and receive revelations, and since you want your love to last forever, well then, you must love without waiting to be loved in return. If those you love return your love, so much the better, give thanks to heaven – but do not count on it. This is the only way that you will become all-powerful, independent, and master of the situation.
