Spiritual water
The cosmic ocean

Water is the symbol of the universal matter from which the cosmos was created. In Genesis, we read that God separated the waters above from the waters below: ‘God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” And God made the firmament and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven.’
The waters above the firmament, which are known in initiatic science as ‘astral light’ or the ‘magic agent’, represent the primordial ocean in which all creatures are immersed and in which they find their nourishment. Moreover, we could say that this is why a baby that is still in its mother’s womb is immersed in amniotic fluid – in order to remind us of these primordial waters. We are immersed in the immensity of the cosmos just as fish are immersed in the sea, and if we fail to sense this, it is because our psychic pores are clogged with impurities. This is why all our work consists of clearing our inner channels so that we can be sustained and vivified by the spiritual waters that envelop us.
