Good

It is as powerful as evil

Love is implacable toward hatred; light is implacable toward darkness; good is implacable toward evil. If you swallow poison, it will do you immeasurable harm, but a powerful antidote will soon set you right. Of course, the effects of the antidote seem less spectacular than those of the poison, but they are just as powerful. Good is as powerful and as amazing as evil, but as it suits us, we think that it is only normal, and pay little or no attention to it. But if you ask evil its opinion of good, it will say, ‘Oh dear, don’t talk to me about good! The knocks I have received from it!’ Ask the spirits of darkness what effect a spirit of light has on them and they will scream and flee in terror. We cannot see all this so we never think about it, but if you want to understand the power of good,* you need to question evil about it.
