Boldness

Of those who have light

February 20th 2011
Darkness can cause irrational fear – a wolf, a burglar, a murderer might suddenly appear! But it can also be the cause of a rational fear – when you can’t see anything, you always run the danger of bumping into something, of falling and hurting yourself. The more their intelligence and wisdom develops, the more people become not exactly fearful in the usual sense of the word, but alert. And at the same time their boldness increases too – their intellectual, mental boldness. They mistrust what comes from instinct or feeling, for these can cloud their vision, but when it is a question of something clear and straightforward, they become bold. This is why truly intelligent and educated people are bolder than others. They make their way into regions where most never dare to venture, and it is light that gives them this boldness.
