True self
Rediscovering our true self by getting rid of everything that weighs us down
March 9th 2025
Man descended from the heavenly regions through a process known as involution. In the course of his descent into matter, as he drew further and further away from the primordial fire, he assumed increasingly denser bodies until acquiring a physical body. It is exactly as if we were dressing for the cold of winter, wrapping ourselves in layers of clothing—an undershirt, top, cardigan and, finally, a coat.
Now, in order to take the path back to the higher realms, we must undress, metaphorically speaking, stripping ourselves of everything that weighs us down. Instead of working to amass all sorts of things, we must learn to give them up, to free ourselves, because an accumulation of possessions drags us downwards. Every thought, feeling or desire that is not strictly spiritual clings to us like frost on the bare branches of the trees in winter. We need the spring sun to start shining anew, melting away the frost so that we can rediscover our true Self. When we finally succeed in ridding ourselves of all our useless surplus baggage, we will feel divine breath flowing through our being.*
