Truth

The union of love and wisdom

Jesus said to Nicodemus, ‘No one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and spirit.’ ‘Water and spirit’ means water and fire, because, symbolically, the spirit is fire, celestial fire.
In esoteric science, water is regarded as the receptive and passive feminine principle, and fire as the emissive and active masculine principle. Water represents love and fire represents wisdom, and we must be born of these two principles in order to enter into the kingdom of God, which is truth. Truth is the union of water and fire, of love and wisdom. No one can possess the truth unless they first possess love and wisdom.*
