Light

It allows us to get our bearings and find the meaning of life

June 1st 2026
It is written in the Gospel: ‘Walk while you have the light, so that darkness may not overtake you. If you walk in the darkness, you do not know where you are going.’ Light allows us to get our bearings and to find what we are looking for.
There is no denying that many people seek God sincerely, but they do so in the night. They want to see the sun, symbolically speaking, but after it has set; so, how can they hope to find it? After having looked around for a while they come to the conclusion that there is no sun. They claim this is corroborated by forty or fifty years of painstaking observation, and on their deathbeds they declare: ‘The sun does not exist. I never found it.’
The hallmark of contemporary culture is research conducted in the dark. If people do not find the sun, in other words, the meaning of life, it is because they lead a nocturnal existence and go to bed when the sun rises… so as not to see it.
