Good and evil are so closely intertwined that we have to think very carefully before seeking to separate them. Any premature separation causes wrenching and tearing. Separation is a most difficult art and Initiates take their instruction from nature itself. We are not able to separate the nut from its husk, but nature knows how to do so: it lets the fruit ripen until the husk comes away by itself and falls off. This separation is a sign of maturity. A child is attached to its mother’s womb; tearing it away prematurely would result in death for both. But if you wait, the fruit falls and the cord that ties the child to its mother can be cut.
