Flowers and fruits of the soul and the spirit, which come and go

In winter, when the flowers, fruits and leaves have fallen from a tree, what is left? The branches, the trunk and the roots. You see, the most material parts remain throughout the year, whereas the subtler and more fragile elements appear only at certain periods. Indeed, spring comes again, and leaves, flowers and fruit make their appearance once more. Anyone who did not know this law of nature might be worried by the sight of all those stark, bare trees. But we do know it, and we all look forward to the return of spring and the rebirth of the greenery.
Now let us draw an analogy. What do the flowers, leaves and fruit of a tree correspond to in human beings? To the inspiration that graces us from time to time, and which is a manifestation of the soul and spirit. Inspiration comes and goes, and we must not be discouraged when it leaves. Since our soul and spirit have already produced flowers and fruits, we can be sure that they will do so again. All we need to do is work to prepare good conditions, so that those flowers and fruits will be even more beautiful, more fragrant and more delectable.
