Every human being has qualities and virtues waiting for the right time to manifest themselves. That is why, rather than focusing on his disciples’ failings, a Master seeks to bring out all of their divine potential. This is how I work on you and how you too should work, by nurturing sacred thoughts for one another.
By cultivating these sacred thoughts, you stop dwelling on the less glorious details and can concentrate instead on the divine principle in people. That way, you are doing good work on yourself as well as helping others. Whereas if you focus on their faults, not only do you harm yourself—because you are, as it were, feeding on filth—but you also hamper others in their personal growth. Many people believe that they can help others to mend their ways by pointing out their faults. No, on the contrary; you can help others only by focusing on their divine nature.
