Helping human beings
Use your intelligence otherwise you encourage them to sink deeper into their weaknesses
October 8th 2026
Why do so many people take refuge in weakness, sentimentality and over-sensitivity? Instead of reacting by thinking things out, reasoning and trying to find solutions, they adopt a passive attitude. They complain and try their best to make people feel sorry for them. And when somebody says, ‘Oh, you poor thing, I understand, you’re so unhappy!’ their tears flow even faster. It is the same with children when they fall down and start to cry. If you say, ‘Oh, darling, you’re hurt, how awful’, the child will cry even more. But if you say, ‘Look, it’s just a scratch, you’re all right, go back and play’, they will dry their tears and soon forget about it.
So many adults are just like children! They weep over the slightest thing. And those around them—in all ignorance and thinking they are being kind—start to comfort them. What sense is there in that? You must use your intelligence if you want to help humans, otherwise you further encourage their weaknesses.
