Karma

Once human beings learn how to work properly, their suffering will be over

That which the Hindus call karma is simply the law of cause and effect as it applies to human destiny. The suffering that we must endure in this life is the consequence of the mistakes we have made in our past lives. Those who are neither sufficiently enlightened nor disinterested cannot hope for true harmony in their activities: they are groping around, and in groping they necessarily suffer bumps and bruises.
Human beings left the bosom of the Eternal where they lived in plenitude, in bliss. They wished to be independent in order to act, to create, but as they have not yet succeeded in finding the best form to give to their actions and creations, they suffer. Does this mean that we should do nothing? No, we must act. ‘Yes, but we’ll suffer!’ Of course, you will suffer, but you will also learn and perfect yourself, and once you know how to work properly, your suffering will be over.
