Symbols
Correspondences with the five sephiroth of the central pillar of the sephirotic tree
December 14th 2026
The goal of the spiritual quest is often symbolized by certain objects that an Initiate succeeds in acquiring after long and arduous labours. The magic wand, the elixir of everlasting life, the universal panacea, the magic mirror, the philosopher’s stone… all these objects, which figure in certain popular traditions, are in fact symbols of the faculties developed and the powers obtained by Initiates. Are they actually material possessions? Sometimes they are, but that is not the issue. It is primarily as inner virtues and qualities that Initiates must seek to possess and work with them.
These five symbols correspond to the five sephiroth on the central pillar of the Sephirotic Tree. The magic wand corresponds to Kether; the magic mirror to Daath; the universal panacea to Tiphareth; the elixir of everlasting life to Yesod, and the philosopher’s stone to Malkuth.
