Humility

Strengthens us

March 28th 2013
Being humble does not mean allowing yourself to be enslaved and trampled underfoot, or feeling inferior to others. True humility lies in bowing not before humans but before the Lord, as when Jesus, in the garden of Gethsemane, knowing the torture he was to undergo, prayed: ‘Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; yet, not my will but yours be done.’ And as for us, we shouldn’t humble ourselves before human beings either, only before the Lord, by placing ourselves in his service. And when we have to go through trials, we should not rise up asking him for an explanation, for it is through acceptance and humility that we are strengthened. Humility is wisdom that sets us on the path of true power.
