Detaching oneself completely from all one’s cares

For a few minutes every day, try to reach an inner state of silence, a vibrant, living silence in which your soul and spirit are free to speak to their Creator. If you exercise your ability to concentrate regularly in this way, you will gradually escape – at least for a few minutes at a time – from the mediocrities of everyday life, and the habit will stand you in good stead in moments of difficulty. You will then see how useful it is to be able to detach yourself completely from all your cares and direct your thoughts heavenward.*
