Love

Even people who are difficult to bear

If you have people around you who are difficult to bear, it is to teach you to love. One day, when you leave earth and you stand before the celestial entities, they will ask you to account for what you have done on earth. They will say, ‘Why did you not love your fellow creatures?’
‘Well, because they were nasty, stupid and selfish.’
‘No, that is not a reason. Heaven gave you great riches: you received eyes, a mouth, ears, arms and legs, and you were given these to love, not to spread slander, despise, wreak havoc and trample over everyone and everything.’
‘But they were so awful!’
‘All the more reason to be increasingly generous.’
There are no excuses to justify your behaviour.*
