Spiritualist or materialist?

It depends on your level of consciousness

Some people think that the mere fact they possess and venerate something that once belonged to a saint makes them spiritual. Not at all! People can call themselves spiritualists and still behave like complete materialists.
Whether you are a materialist or a spiritual person depends on your level of consciousness. Interest in the invisible world does not make you spiritual, nor does interest in matter make you a materialist. It all depends on how you are interested in the spirit or in matter. The way some people practise religion is, in fact, no more than materialism. This is why, instead of criticizing materialists, many people would do better to look at themselves, and ask themselves if they are not also materialists, since they focus exclusively on the form, losing sight of both content and meaning. Do you want to be a genuinely spiritual person? Then seek the spirit that gives life and the truth that makes you free.*
