Autumn equinox

Archangel Michael presides over the autumn equinox, which occurs on September 22. The sun enters Libra, ushering in a new season. Fruits fall from the trees, leaving their empty husks on the ground; seeds are sorted and consumed, or stored and sown later so that a new cycle can begin.
But nature’s work of separating and sorting does not apply only to vegetation; it also concerns the destiny of human beings. Just as the fruit is separated from the tree, and the seed from the fruit, so is the soul one day separated from the body. The body is the envelope of the soul, and the soul is the seed that is planted on high in heaven. When the fruit of a human being is ripe, it must not fall to the ground like the seed of a plant; it must soar up to heaven.*
