Watchfulness

To exercise over our states of consciousness

If you are to watch your thoughts and feelings as they pass through you, you have to be awake and watchful every day, and it isn’t easy! Observe yourself. There will be times when you are busy cooking, doing odd jobs or driving your car, and you are apparently concentrating on what you are doing, but actually a part of you has wandered off into negative thoughts and feelings, and it can be a long time before you even realize it. So that is where you have to learn to be particularly watchful, so that you can intervene at any moment in your inner life. The first step towards freedom, towards true power, is to acquire the habit of checking to see what is happening inside you. And if you see yourself sinking into the dark regions of consciousness, react by making sure you activate constructive forces.
