Elements, the four

And the corresponding trials

February 2nd 2015
If we are to evolve, we must be put to the test and face great trials. We will suffer, of course, but if we come through them we will at least know what we are capable of. These trials relate to the four elements – earth, water, air and fire. We face them continuously throughout our life. The trials by earth are like earthquakes; they show whether we have willpower, patience and stability, whether – using the image of the pyramid – our foundations are sufficiently solid. The trials by water affect the world of feelings. They plunge us into black streams of hate and betrayal, and the love we have inside us must be strong enough to neutralize all these poisons. The trials by air are produced by tornadoes and hurricanes. Will our mind lose its direction or continue to see clearly and reason correctly? The trials by fire are the most terrible. They burn all the impurities that prevent our soul from becoming one with the first Cause, the Source of all lives. To find God, we must pass through the purifying fire.
