Earth
To be ploughed and cultivated: the mind
October 17th 2015
If humans are not already alive and well nourished, where will their practice of philosophy, science and art take them? In universities and academies, students are certainly given a great deal of knowledge, but they are not nourished. And that’s why their legs are often shaky, their heart empty and their vision fuzzy. In the schools of great initiates, on the other hand, the students are well nourished, and when they have become strong and robust they are put to work. They are given a plough and told how to plough and cultivate the earth. You will say, ‘What? Plough and cultivate the earth? What earth?’ The earth everyone possesses: the mind.
Those who know how to plough and plant good seeds in their own earth will eat their fill their whole life. The others will only see weeds grow, which will not only be of no use to them but will harm both them and those around them.
