Fire and air
Represented within us by love and wisdom

Between air and fire there is a kind of complementarity. To work with fire, one must also know air. It tempers fire, but because it is always moving, it also brings a certain freshness: when it is hot, we wish for air.
These relationships between air and fire are also found in our psychic life. We are travellers journeying through space and, in order to fulfil our destiny, we need fire and air, or heat and cold. We have fire within us: we come into the world carrying our stove and its fuel, so that we can heat ourselves; for the journey is long and outside symbolically it is cold. This cold that rules outside us is air, and thanks to it we can regulate the temperature. Fire one may say is love, and air is wisdom. Love is within us, whereas wisdom is outside us so that we can study it, contemplate it, and use it to regulate our inner fire.
