When they no longer have so much energy to carry on running after glory, power or pleasures, many people decide it is time to settle down and consider heaven! But what can they be thinking of? When you have no energy left for the earth, you have none left for heaven either. Staying quietly in your corner, because you don’t have enough energy left for business or for intrigues and passions, is not wisdom, and it certainly isn’t spirituality.
All those who espouse the devil when they are young – let’s put it like that – must be under no illusions: the devil turns his back on them in their old age, because they have nothing more to offer him. They think they are divorcing of their own free will, but not at all; it is the devil who is sending them packing. He sends God all the debris he has no more use for. And what a sight for the Lord, and what a lot of help he gets for his work!
