Evil

Strengthen yourself in order to better resist it

March 6th 2018
Continually asking questions about the existence of evil only saps your strength, and any attempt to suppress evil is an exercise doomed to failure. What do we do in winter against the rain and snow, against storms and the cold? Do we go outside and command the forces of nature to calm down? Perhaps it is like that in fairy tales, but in everyday life we work on our house: we reinforce it, check the insulation, and install good heating. When the job is done, we are at peace. Well, wisdom tells us to take the same measures with regard to evil. Instead of struggling directly against it, we must concern ourselves only with becoming more resistant, so that we can understand it better and act more effectively. And this is how a misfortune, which otherwise would bring us down, actually helps to strengthen us, to make us hardier and more noble.
