‘for everyone will be salted with fire’

August 31st 2018
Jesus said, ‘For everyone will be salted with fire.’ But what is the relationship between salt and fire? Fire, like salt, is symbolic of the spirit. And salt, like fire, can burn you. But since fire is different in many various forms, it results in varying kinds of burns. While fire is synonymous with life, it also has the capacity to destroy and it can be extremely destructive. The same is true of salt: it is directly related to the origin of life, and also has the ability to destroy life. What we refer to today as the Dead Sea in Palestine, was called the Salt Sea in the Old Testament. Salt, like fire, can therefore be the bearer of death as it is of life. When Jesus said, ‘For everyone will be salted with fire’, it means that no one can escape salt and fire. But those who have welcomed the spirit within and work with it, will be salted with the fire of life; while those who are opposed to spirit will be salted with the fire of suffering and death. This is a law which applies to us all.
