Giving glory to god

Words alone do not suffice

October 17th 2019
Believers of all religions have it as their first article of faith that God is the Creator of heaven and Earth. They recite it in their prayers and sing it in their hymns, but then return to their usual occupations. Up above, the sun, the moon and the stars rise and set; on Earth, flowers bloom, fruits ripen, streams flow, and so on. All of nature endlessly glorifies the Creator by celebrating his work. And meanwhile what do humans do? They get together to glorify certain individuals who exhibit some talents, qualities or virtues, or to glorify themselves. Giving glory to God is not one of their concerns. Even those who have glorified him for a moment during their prayers or their hymns then think more about addressing their grievances and pleas to him. Don’t they ever notice this contradiction?
