Egocentricity
It makes us blind to the realities of life

Most people think only of themselves: what suits or does not suit them, what they gain or lose, and so on. This is why they are so blind to the realities of life; they refuse to see things from any other point of view. They measure and weigh everything, and base their opinions on their own tastes and prejudices – that is to say, according to their lower nature – and they never suspect how far they are from the truth! As long as they do not abandon their narrow point of view, they will never see things as they truly are. So then come the lies, illusions, wrong turns and mistakes.
