Work to perfect yourself and leave other people alone

It is true that there is much to criticize about the way human beings behave, but what good does that do? It is not by criticizing people that you will make them more honest, upright, fair, generous or loyal. The only solution is to ally yourself with good. Once you open your doors to it, good sets to work and does its part; so you too get to work and keep quiet. If the Lord, who is tolerant and full of love, says nothing, why must you? Why be so narrow-minded and stingy? Be a little more magnanimous, for heaven’s sake, and work on yourself.
Here is a very helpful method: work to perfect yourself and leave other people alone.* Do not meddle in their affairs. If they have accounts to settle, it is before heaven, not you, that they will do so.
