Observe certain rules of life, for everything is reflected in the skin

The skin envelops the body and all its organs. It is the inspector that examines and tests whatever attempts to enter us, and lets in only what we need. So, we must make sure that it has the conditions it needs to admit only what is beneficial to us and eliminate anything that is harmful. Washing ourselves, for instance, contributes to our physical health and wellbeing, but if we do so with the right state of awareness, we can also absorb forces and currents that keep us in touch with the life of the cosmos.
In creating our skin, Cosmic Intelligence has given us a sense organ whose functions extend even to the spiritual plane, for it produces subtle secretions that eventually endow it with certain properties. In order to avoid damaging this etheric film, and to maintain the skin’s ability to serve as a protection as well as an instrument of perception, we must observe certain rules of life, for everything is reflected in the skin.*
