Heaven

It gives human beings a hard time so that they can evolve

Most human beings hope that their path will be smooth and that things will work out according to their wishes. Fortunately, Heaven watches over them and sends them a few problems, a few wasps to sting them, for otherwise they would remain lazy and half-asleep. There is a reason for everything in life—even the existence of wasps. Heaven knows what it is doing when it gives humans a hard time. It is thanks to these difficulties that we grow and evolve. Think of how many people have been jolted out of an insignificant, mediocre life by an illness, an accident, a separation or a bereavement. Their misfortune made them reflect and matured them, and in this way they discovered the path of light.
Then, when Heaven sees that one of its children has at last set to work, it gives orders for these tribulations to cease. ‘Leave him in peace;’ it says. ‘He has understood that he has to make an effort.’ Then his difficulties are ironed out and he even receives blessings.*
