Sadness
Only other people’s misfortunes should make us feel sad
August 28th 2025
Those who want to experience true life must not give in to sadness and pessimism. Some people consider pessimists to be great philosophers, but in reality they are often very ambitious people who, having failed to achieve their impossible dreams, fall into a black mood. From this state they acquire a jaundiced view of life, which they broadcast far and wide, imagining that they are demonstrating great lucidity and depth. Not at all!
We have the right to be sad, but only about other people’s difficulties and misfortunes, not because of our own unfulfilled desires and ambitions. Those who often give way to such moods should realize that they are not very highly evolved, for the cause of their sadness is generally something inferior.*
